I know. Another fucking newsletter.
But wait!
This one unlike others, will be short, funny and filled with cool stuff. If you already know what my whole deal is then subscribe away.
If you’re still like, hey wait, screw this guy! Then maybe read this one and try it out for a week.
The main feature of this weekly newsletter is The Weekly 3. My likes and interests are all over the place, but what they all have in common in they’re right 100% of the time and you should listen to me. Having established this irrefutable fact, I decided that each week I’d pick three topics and recommend three items from each one. Simple. Effective. Here we go.
Weekly 3
1. Ceramicists
Eunbi Ceramics
Eunbi Cho is an artist. Her ceramics are fun, beautiful. They perfectly encapsulate the childlike wonder of a bin full of toys and the awe inspiring majesty of futuristic architecture.
She has a Tumblr with a hundred or so examples. Worth a look.
Seth Rogen
Yeah, that Seth Rogen. He and Snoop Dogg have blown the “stoners are lazy” trope out of the water and into outer space. Writer, director, actor, producer, weed grower and… ceramics? My money would’ve been on lava lamps. But the thing is they’re really good. How good? A Change.org petition was started to get him to sell the rad as fuck pots he’s been churning out. And now he’s doing it. See for yourself.
Comwork Studio
Rustic, retro with a bit of fantasy. These pieces look like they were taken out of the castle walls of a dusty town in a Tolkien novel and twisted into gorgeous modern day relics. Perfectly, I might add. I own a couple, and like any other art, they are a pleasure to get lost in as I procrastinate writing this newsletter. I got mine at Tula in Brooklyn. Here’s the online shop.
2. Spring Things
Finding the right jacket (pants or shoes) when the season is changing from winter to spring to summer and back to spring all in the same day isn’t fun. The heavy coat you wore in the morning is your sweat rag by noon. Here are some not perfect, but stylish and comfortable solutions.
Natural white Type III jacket by 3sixteen
I own one of these and I can say it’s of the highest quality, as is all their clothing. It’s soft right out the gate and comfy as F. Website here.
Vans Crocs
Yeah I said it. Only $55! It’s about time this style of shoe started to look cool. I will admit I’m using the word cool loosely. Vans forever though. Screw you Converse! Get them here.
Buck Mason 5 Pocket Pants
I love me some mid-weight pants that are cut like jeans but aren’t. Why even have side cut pockets? They make your frame look bulkier and it’s the guaranteed easiest way to lose your wallet or AirPods. That 5th pocket has evolved from Zippo pocket to AirPod Pro pocket and should be standard in every pair of pants ever made. I have these and I wear them constantly. They even make good bike commuter pants. Find them in black, brown and off white at buckmason.com
3. Diggin’ These Songs
The Seeds - Can’t Seem To Make You Mine
Neil Young - Homegrown (album)
An unreleased Neil Young from the mid 70s!! Been looking forward to this one for a while. The album is called Homegrown and it’s on all the streaming platforms.
Serj Tankian - Electric Yerevan
Everything you could want from a System of a Down album; anger, melody, passion and a history lesson or two. My favorite track.
And on a personal note, I just celebrated nine years sober. I wrote a thing about it you can read here. See you next week.
